Born and bred in Coventry, I left school to work in a bank before joining Massey-Ferguson for an early career in accounting, marketing and administration. Myra and I, with our 2 daughters, left Coventry in 1980 and moved to Bournemouth to become Hoteliers.

Both daughters are now married with children, and in June 2001 we sold the Hotel Sorrento in Boscombe and moved to a bungalow at Hengistbury Head.

I first started painting as a youngster, my mother was an accomplished artist, and then restarted in 1978 following a prolonged illness, attending art courses at both Coventry and Bournemouth colleges.

I am treasurer of the Hengist Group of Artists and have won the Priory Bowl, the Susan Darch Trophy (best oil painting), and the Monica Coleman Trophy (best New Forest painting).

My paintings have been regularly exhibited and sold in Priory House, the Regent Centre and in Bournemouth Gardens. I am also exhibiting at the Bandstand, Christchurch, every Friday during July and August 2017.

Painting mainly in oils, preferring their feel and texture, I am inspired by the local scenes and the changing moods of the sea and the forest.
